I don't know how I feel about some of the points he made, such as how advertising revenue should flow back to the musician. Technically the advertisements are intellectual property of their own, the entire advertising industry is based on just creating material to promote other people's products or services.
And then that bit about how we are willing to buy the tools to steal... right, because computers and smart phones have no other uses!!
But overall it was an interesting read. I do a lot of downloading, mostly to find new music, but I also buy a lot! I try to support artists direct through or through their label whenever possible, and I feel pretty morally comfortable with where I'm at. Because, as much as I download, I still spend more on music than I do on my car lol.

I don't know if you got a chance to read Emily White's article, but she just sounds like an entitled dick. I know I am going to sound like a cranky old man, but it seems like many(not all) young people these days want things automatic push button easy or it's just too much effort. Her argument that the music industry should make it easier for her to get music is ridiculous at best.
